Performer Colorado Jones Game Show

Colorado's Live Game Show

The "Colorado Game Show" is an adaptation of the famous TV game show and is hosted by Colorado Jones. Similar to Familiy Feud, The "Colorado Game Show" is a simple yet extremely fun and competitive game that is hysterically funny to watch and participate. Two teams compete against each other trying to guess the best answers of a question. The "Colorado Game Show" is great for parties, events, cruise ships, dinner shows, beer gardens and wedding receptions.

How the game is played

Colorado Jones Game Show Rules Overview

Watch my "Rules Overview" video (only 2 min. long). "Like" and leave a quick comment too!

Two teams compete against each other trying to guess the best answers of a question. Each round starts with a "Face-off" where the fastest hand gets the first guess. The winning player then gets to decided if they would like to play or pass the board to the opposing team. The team that plays tries to guess the answers on the board getting up to 3 incorrect guesses. If the team does not reveal all the surveyed answers, the other team may "steal the points" if they guess just one of the remaining correct answer(s).

A team can earn between 0 and 100 points per round (i.e. 1 question and answers). Typically, the team that reaches 150 points, the "Win Points", first are the winners. However, the scoring system can be adjusted to client needs/desires.

Colorado Jones Game Show Buzzers

1 Round (i.e. 1 Question and it's possible answers) usually takes between 5 and 10 minutes but... if things get crazy fun, sometimes 15 min. Multiple rounds can be played to match the time allotment. If the "Win Points" is set at 150 points, a team can typically win in 2 rounds.

Participants

Each team will have 4 or 5 players. Depending on the venue, participants will be selected by the host before the game starts OR participants can be pre-selected by the client. When you contact me we can discuss and I can suggest the best method for selecting participants. Team member can be switched per round. Of course switching team members will take time and can slow the pace of the game. When you contact me we can discuss and I can suggest best possible methods.

Question Customization

For some specific venues like Corporate Parties, Weddings, etc. customized questions can be used in the game. For example, a Corporate Party event my want to create questions about specific things relating to it's business, products or services whereas a wedding might want to create specific questions pertaining to the lives of the bride and groom. Please let me know if you want customized questions and I can let you know how that's done.

Prizes

In some venues there may be no prize for the participants of the winning team. Laughter, applause and everybody having a good time is plenty. However, if prizes are to be given, it is the responsibility of the client to provide the prizes. Prizes can range from a candy bar to each player, gift certificates, a T-shirt, whatever... it doesn't have to be a huge thing but players feel good and feel a since of "winning" when receiving even a small prize.

Venue and Requirements

Space

Please review the image at the top of this page. 4-5 people stand on each side of a projector screen. The stage should be at least 7 meters length x 2.5 meters depth (23 feet length x 8.5 depth), that's the size of the stage in the image.

Environment

Indoor venues only (no outdoor venues). A projector is used to display the game board onto a screen. Any inside venue where lighting can be adjusted is of course the best venue.

Screen, Projector & staff

Three Possibilities

  1. My Equipment & Me as the Host
  2. Venue Equipment & Me as the Host
  3. Venue Equipment, Me as the Host & one staff member to help manage the game

In general, I usually bring (ship before hand) my own equipment no matter what (see below "I will bring"). Furthermore, I have a custom software system that enables me to manage the game by myself making this system is great for many situations.

However, if the venue (hotel conference room, cruise ship stage, etc.) has a professional setup (bigger screen, professional projector), it would be best to utilize that system. Furthermore, if a staff member is available to manage the game (it's simple), it can make the game run smoother and give more freedom to the host to interact with the contestants and crowd.

Venue Equipment

The Client must prepare:

  • 2 waist-height, long tables (for teams to stand behind)
  • Wireless hand-held microphones x2 OR (better option) 1 lapel/lavalier microphone for the host and 1 hand-held microphone for participants. Note: If the host will be managing the game by himself (no staff help) a lapel/lavalier microphone for the host will be required as he'll need both hands to manage the game on a tablet.
  • ! Important ! an outlet for power.
  • (Possibly) extension cord. I will bring a 30 ft (10 meter) extension cord but if that is not enough to reach an outlet please provide the necessary extension cord.
  • (Option) I will bring a self-standing projector screen that is 180 cm width x 113 cm high (70 in width x 44 in high). However, if the venue is at a hotel, conference room, etc. and a larger screen or even white background wall is available, we can use that instead.
  • "Green Room", i.e. Private Dressing/Preparation room for Colorado Jones. This room must be of decent size with aircon/heat and contain basics like table, chair, mirror etc.

I will bring:

  • Me, the host
  • The Game
  • A projector and stand
  • A Projector Screen
  • 30 ft (10 meter) extension cord
